City in the state of Punjab, Ludhiana is located on the banks of Sutlej River. It is also known as India's Manchester as it proves to be a major industrial center of Northern India. It is located 100 km west of Chandigarh. It is centrally located on National Highway 1, which runs from New Delhi to Amritsar.City got its present name Ludhiana on the name of Lodhi dynasty as the place was under the great influence of them. This city has turned out to be a 'Polluted box' from a colorful banquet of different cultures. Buddha Nala
It runs parallel to the Satluj on its south for a fairly large section of its course in the district and joins the Satluj at Gorsian Kadar Baksh in the northwestern corner of the district. It floods during the rainy season, but in the dry season it can be crossed on foot. Ludhiana and Machhiwara are situated to the south of the Buddha Nala. The water of the stream is polluted after it enters Ludhiana City
